Founded as the Little Civic Art Gallery during the days of the Depression and the WPA, the museum has evolved into an impressive collection of American artworks from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. However, the curators aren't interested in keeping things static. They dedicate portions of their museum to national touring exhibits, local artists, and community events. The museum also hosts the School of Art which features more than 20 studio art classes for students of all ages, scheduling sessions three times a year.
