<HTML>Ok, so what do folks feel about these?
Do you make them?
Have you recieved them?
What do you do with them?
Do you trade them?

I made some years ago but really haven't done any in forever. I get them all the time as something Ed Giecek does, he cuts the return addresses of his mail art recieved and send them on to folks.

<HTML>Hey Dragonfly,
Nice to see you again. Aren't you suppose to be in NY? Anyway, for me, ATCs are starting to take more and more place. I have been doing them for only one year. I do mailart to relax, for fun, for communication etc...and ATCs can achieve the same thing (I am not sure how to explain that). You can take a look at this new messegeboard on ATCs at:

[pluto.beseen.com]

It is a somewhat a very small community if compared to the mailart one, but in the last year I have seen more and more people asking questions and joining mail trading sessions.
The original concept is to trade cards at a trading session somewhere (all organized) where the real people can trade face to face. Fun, but has many limitations since it does not reach everybody. The trade by mail concept is gaining more ground.
Here's the link on the biggest web site on ATCs with all the details and links.

Take good care!!!

<HTML>I make artist trading cards but I don't print them. they are all original little watercolors...it's fun to make trading card sized watercolors...I enclose them in mailings and letters. I've received a few. It would be fun to monoprint some. thanks for the links</HTML>

<HTML>Yes, Dragonfly Dream, I love to make monoprints! I haven't made any in a long time because I moved away from my monoprinting set up. After my dissertation perhaps I'll be back in the monoprinting scene.</HTML>

<HTML>I have made ATC's, but have not traded through the mail. There is a small group of people in town that gets together about once a month or so, and I have been to a couple of sessions. The attendance is pretty up and down (from what I hear from a friend who is a regular), as is the quality of cards that people make. I suppose it's like mailart; some people put a lot of thought and time into their pieces, others seem primarily interested in the act of sending something--anything--to someone else ('studio scraps', photocopies,etc.).

I like having such a small area to work with. 2.5 in. x 3.5 in.

It's a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.</HTML>

<HTML>Greetings -

I have been making and trading ATC's by mail for a while. I do not know anyone in my area to trade with "in the flesh". So I include them in my mail art packages. I wrote letters to people whos addresses I found on the Swiss ATC site. (Sorry, I can't find that link now). I have introduced artist who make ATC's to mail art and vice versa. The ATC's are as diverse as mail art.

If anyone one wants to trade... my address is:

Rae's of Sun
40 El Rancho Dr.
Pleasant HIll, Ca 94523

P.S. What do I do with them? I show them off to any one interested. They inspire me just like mail art. I put them in a book like other trading cards. Actually it's fun when my nieces and nephews come over and show me their Pokeman trading cards I whip out my ATC's and suddenly I'm cool.</HTML>

Re: Artist's Trading Cards / and to CRAIG

<HTML>I made series of it years ago when the idea started and sent some
sets out to different countries - got strong multiple collections back!

Between this years I stopped it - it is always timeexpensive to set up
multiple originals like I often made 150 items in this size by hand and
signed for Ryosuke Cohen?s project for instance -

by the way , Ryosuke sent me handmade selfporttraitcollage of himself,
telling me (life-sized portrait multiple) planing to visit my country ---

Unfortunately the parcel was sent by seamail, it is from march 2001,

Any information about his journey?

Greetings,

the little kestrel in the sky watching.

post scriptum:

I am still working to restore my digital systems,

(lot of datas lost, even the started documentations of
animals in mailart from 1993 to 2001 - also adressdatabase)

- and no working scanner available to
post the unique picture sent by ryosuke here :-((

This will take a while of mounting hardware, deleting softwarebugs,
and - some money - some time.

You see messageboards and crosses net is working well, also
the onlinedocumentations.

I will "reset my mailart -" and start again.

In this situation I am not patient enough to accept all personally,
regionally political discurses and discussions that primary have nothing
to do with this board and mailart.

Especially persons like Craig Purcell - with his digitally equipment and
wisdom need not this place to post sarcastic political pictures also using
mine, there is enogh free webspace to set up free fast discussionboards.

Maybe those readers of the thousands of "nonwritten rules" never red
the word respect. Their Idea of tolerance and not to censor depends only on that that they want to rule everywhere while accepting noone other.

Mailart was and is a kind of anarchy - an anarchic - non- system.

The kind you put something into it you will get any answer in any
way - good or bad, or nothing.

Least but not at last you will learn how to handle it in (really)different
areas, it it is interesting for you and exploring the unexpectable world-
wide.

In MAILART including politics - here , I sometimes slammed into a
brickwall - telling "is this my failure - was this my fought"

We have to respect eachothers if we want to live together free,
and whe have to try to understand eachothers (souls, religions,
cultures, skins, and more) if we want to x-change souls an hearts-
for me similar to personal ART - x-changed by MAIL - this was
for instance almost MAILART for me since I met - created- this
kind of art.

- I created it - before I met international adresses - then I fit into
the international x-change.

On-Toppic of this board is mailart.

this is rule number one.

First personal rule for Craig is:

Your are a guest here at this board,
first respect to this domain - second to all visitors here,
third - stop kicking emotions others post at pentagon server,
post at FBI post and crack BND-Servers, post at (I will not use this
word here afraid about) Israels secret Service servers or anywhere
else - to the adresses you are talking about - post to the new Stasi-
servers post at the naziservers and/ or kill them or find messageboards
to x-change about!

This is a MAILART messageboard I founded.
You are my guest.

I am sharing a lot of political meanings you are making pictures of it.
But this is not the theme here!

If I am begging you not to post all this kind of items here and you
are just doing this only - do not wonder about if your postings become
deleted - once - now twice.

How to step into the kitchen of someone giving an open door ,
shouting around about this ugly world an just shitting on the kitchen
table inviting to eat???

Wondering about the door is closed next day?

Someone I?ve told, "sorry I?ve lost my temper" - NO! I`d been
much too patient!

It is free for you to set up your own boards every big provider gives
it for free! post your pictures there - or link it!!! - I will read your
polemic postings and your ideas - you know.

But here at crosses net - re - member? you are a guest.

in my fluxkitchen.

(I will change rulez everyday) - times are running faster I see.

feel free to correspondent via e-mail with merlin@crosses.net
no html- accepted, no images, ownly plain text! no exefiles or
anything else.

until you do not see / accept the posted items above, you will become
deleted by sight. - you?d been fair while posting with Craig.

Do not start any war here I am accepting Craig, but not how he is
acting here after I begged not to do this like you Craig did.

Accept or leave.

(it?s just my kitchen - you know - I never would step into yours-
shitting on the table just to please you)

ok?

(noone had become forced to post real email adress, real snailmail adress IP is not shown and so on - do not abuse this freedom here!)

<HTML>i rather like the format of an ATC they are cmall compact and several can be sent in a single cheep mail posting

i make them usualy in editions for coppy left in switzerland........the editions of ATC project that is ongoing............i receive a pack in return for this..........and archive it as i do all mail art that does not bear the request to add to and pass

i dont tend to trade ATC i occasionaly receive the odd one but its usualy as a part of a mail art sending..not as a specific trade

i do tend to favour the postcard format...some how it when sent in the post seems to be a more standardised format thet because of ots size doesnt feel like it is as likely to be lost in the post</HTML>
