<HTML>Hi Dragonfly: five mins. of lucidity to tell you about these tiny fellows in Hawai'i who are seldom seen, but like to do little mischiefs... especially in the night. How else to explain why I could download Alain's "Canyon" into a miniature photoshop jpeg pic., while Craig's "Return to Sender" demanded Quick Time Authoring in order to copy onto my machine? How else to figure why some stuff just WON'T open come what may? Blame in on the Menehunes!</HTML>

<HTML>How to open a graphic file.

If you don't know the file type, download the file and open it with a text reader.

I used Windows notepad.

Look for header information.
Ignore the strange looking code and look for file type and program.
Here is the header from the canyon file:

Canyon
JPEG8BIM ???? ] 1??Y'?Y' mBIN
???? JFIF  H H ???Photoshop 3.0 8BIM?

Notice that the canyon file is of the type JPEG (not JPG).
Other types would be TIFF, GIF, BMP, etc.

Now rename the file from canyon to canyon.jpeg and open it with your graphics program.
I used Photoshop (which failed).

I next tried Thumbs Plus - which recognizes more file types, I guess.
You can get the Thumbs Plus software (for Windows) here:
<a href="[cws.internet.com];
(take the free version)

Then I saved it as a JPG file.

Lesson over.

If you like, you can now get the file by clicking here:
<a href="[www.art.net];

or by right-clicking the image below

<img src="[www.art.net];

Take care artisans!

<HTML>sorry.

Not much of a MacPro I confess . . .

Advise was for Windows-slaves like me.

No argument from me which is the better system.
Gates is NOT my friend.
Linux is the choice of cultured hackers.

Can you see the graphic in my post? - Grab it from there.

Aloha my dear
